There’s no doubt you need to be online, but do you need a website?

These days having a web presence is so much more, than just a website. Perhaps the cost barrier of getting a developer to build one for you is too high, maybe it doesn’t make sense for your type of business, you might even be your own brand. What you need, is not necessarily a whole website with fancy pages that don’t add value. Even with all the online tools and “free” do-it-yourself programs and website builders, you’re still wondering if you need one?

First things first,

You need to be online! Social media platforms are free to set up and pretty straightforward to use, most of us have at least one already. So go ahead and set yourself up on Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, or any of the other of the usual suspects which you like. Keep in mind, you’re building a brand or presence online, so use the channels that makes sense for you.

Tips for Social Media:

Keep in uniform

If posting and using multiple social media channels, keep your brand consistent throughout.

Stay active and stay current

Post regularly, stay in touch with your audience, and stay up-to-date with current trends.

Select the right platforms for you

Where are your ideal customers? When using different platforms keep in mind some are better suited to certain content over others, think video vs images, age groups, browsing vs reading, so post what’s relevant to you, to your brand or business, and to the platform you’re using.

Don’t be afraid to use the tools to monitor your activity

Analytics is a fantastic way to gauge what’s working and what’s not. Use as many tools on offer as possible to get the best insight you can.

Increase brand awareness

Posting regularly and keeping it uniform helps create a brand, and getting in front of your customers brings awareness to who you are and what you offer.

Share quality, not just quantity

We are living in the information age, so there is a lot of noise out there, do yourself a favor and be more relevant than just noise by posting quality content that viewers want to watch, want to read and ultimately want to engage with.

As per wikipedia,
“A web presence is a location on the World Wide Web where a person, business, or some other entity is represented”

Blogs, Videos, Gallery, Online Shop

The process of having a strong online presence is a daunting task when you start. Lots of research, lot’s of decisions to be made, lot’s of design, and a lot of thought needs to go into it. Don’t worry, this won’t happen overnight and good things take time.

Blogs

Blogs are a great way to keep in touch with your audience and create a community around the space you’re in. Blogging can help you reach thousands of readers and really grow your network. Remember to always write your content for your customers. Give them some tips, advice and provide as much valuable insight as you can. Remember a blog is suppose to be a valuable and trusted source of information. I want to emphasize “value” here, add as much of it as possible.

Videos

People are busy, and so are their social feeds. Mixing your content up by adding some videos allows a further reach for the people who are more visual by nature allowing them to absorb more through video. Video consumption has really grown in recent times and in essence video marketing allows consumers to consume more content easier and quicker.

Gallery

Whether you’re selling products or services, blogging for a career, in sales, or in any other form of being online or even offline, sometimes an image can speak a thousand words. Even adding an image into your reading material can help highlight or bring emphasis to your topic.

Online Shop

So you’ve got an online store or starting one up, or even have an existing business but taking it online. By now you either have some of the above, or thinking of adding it. When being online it needs to be a full effort, just an online store won’t just do it anymore. You need to be where your customers are, and you need to stay relevant and in mind at all times.

Now once you’ve got some, or all the pieces as mentioned above together, do you still need a website? You see, mypage is exactly what it sounds like. It’s my own web page. You can add all of the above onto a simple, easy-to-use page, which even allows you to link to social media, and believe it or not, you can even share all of this through a QR Code displayed on your mobile phone.
